3D Camera Technology#

Based on the Time-of-Flight (ToF) principle, Basler blaze cameras can measure distances by sending out light pulses from an integrated light source and measuring the time the light pulses take to travel back to the camera's sensor.

Simply speaking, the longer it takes for the reflected light pulse to reach the sensor, the greater the distance to the object, and vice versa.

There are several factors that influence the quality of the resulting measurements. Some are inherent in the time-of-flight technology, others are inherent in the camera design.

The following topics will provide you with information to better understand the technology itself and to judge the accuracy of the camera's measurements.
