Software Installation (GigE Interface Cards)#
Installation#
To operate the interface card with a Basler camera, install the Basler pylon Software Suite (version 7.1 or higher) on the host computer.
When installing the pylon Software Suite for Windows, make sure to select the GigE Camera Support feature. This will install all runtime software, drivers, and related software tools that are required for operating the interface card.
After the installation, the GigE Interface Card shows up as a network device on the host computer.
Depending on the interface card and operating system, you may also need to install a network driver. See Network Drivers.
For more information about the network settings, see the Network Configuration (GigE Cameras) topic.
Network Drivers#
Windows#
To operate the following interface cards on Windows, install a compatible network driver:
| Interface Card | Ethernet Controller | Driver |
|---|---|---|
| 10GigE Interface Card, 1 Port | Marvell AQC107 | Compatible driver from the Microsoft Driver Store (recommended) or the Marvell AQtion 64-bit driver |
| 10GigE Interface Card, 4-CH | Marvell AQC113 | Marvell AQtion 64-bit driver |
| 2.5GigE Interface Card, 1 Port | Intel I226-V | Compatible driver from the Microsoft Driver Store (recommended) or the Intel driver |
| 2.5GigE Interface Card, 4 Port PoE+ | Intel I226 | Compatible driver from the Microsoft Driver Store (recommended) or the Intel driver |
The Marvell AQtion 64-bit driver is available within the pylon installation in the \Development\Redist\Drivers directory. Alternatively, you can download the latest driver from the Marvell website. For the 10GigE Interface Card, 4-CH, you can also download the driver from the product page under Specifications / Software.
You can download the Intel driver from the product page of the 2.5GigE Interface Card, 1 Port or the 2.5GigE Interface Card, 4 Port PoE+ under Specifications / Software. Alternatively, you can download the latest driver from the Intel website.
Linux#
On Linux, the 2.5GigE, 10GigE, and 100GigE interface cards are usually natively supported by the Linux kernel (for the Basler 10GigE Interface Card, 2-CH, SFP+ and the Basler 100GigE Interface Card, 2-CH, QSFP28, for example via the mlx5 driver).
Enabling RDMA#
The GVRSP streaming mode in GigE Vision 3.0 (GEV 3.0) requires RDMA (Remote Direct Memory Access) support.
This applies to the Basler 10GigE Interface Card, 2-CH, SFP+ and the Basler 100GigE Interface Card, 2-CH, QSFP28.
Info
On Windows, these interface cards are recognized by the default driver as a standard network adapter without RDMA-capability. To enable the RDMA-capability, install the WinOF-2 Driver from the WinOF-2 driver package on the respective interface card.
On Linux, to enable the RDMA-capability, verify that the RDMA Verbs library (libibverbs.so) and the RDMA Connection Manager library (librdmacm.so) are installed. If they are not available on your system, install them.
