Basler Module 10GBASE-T, Copper-to-SFP+#

The Basler 10GBASE‑T Copper-to-SFP+ Module enables GigE data transmission by connecting 10GigE industrial cameras with an RJ45 port directly to SFP+ interface cards. This allows existing Cat 6a copper cabling to be reused while preserving the flexibility of the SFP+ interface on the host side.

Module 10GBASE-T, Copper-to-SFP+

Mechanical Dimensions#

Mechanical Dimensions Module 10GBASE-T, Copper-to-SFP+

RJ-45 Connector#

The network interface is a standard RJ-45 receptacle for twisted-pair copper Ethernet. The transceiver module supports 10GBASE-T, 5GBASE-T, 2.5GBASE-T, and 1000BASE-T with auto-negotiation. By default, the transceiver module operates as a full-duplex device in preferred master mode. Automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover detection is enable. An external crossover cable is not required.

Performance Specifications#

Absolute Maximum Ratings#

The following values are absolute maximum ratings (damage thresholds). If you exceed any single limit, the module can be destroyed immediately, even when every other parameter stays within the recommended operating conditions.

Info

When operated with the recommended 10GigE Interface Card, 2-CH, SFP+, the power consumption of the transceiver module is 1.2 W max. This value is within the Power Level II range defined by the SFP MSA specification.

Safety and Handling#

Info

The SFP+ copper module has a limited number of plugging cycles. Follow the host system's specifications for the maximum number of insertion/removal cycles.

Info

Insert the transceiver module into an SFP+ port on the interface card. Connect the RJ-45 connector of the transceiver module to a suitable Ethernet cable, for example a Basler Cable GigE, Cat6a, RJ45 sl hor/RJ45, S.

Further Information#

Read the topic about your camera model before connecting the transceiver to your GigE system. You can find your camera topic in the Area and Line Scan Cameras section.

The camera installation is explained in the Hardware Installation (GigE Cameras) topic.

For network configuration, see the Network Configuration (GigE Cameras) topic.

Installation instructions for setting up a GigE system using the 10GigE Interface Card, 2-CH, SFP+ and this transceiver module are explained in the Hardware Installation (GigE Cameras) topic.
